In 1967 Lotus introduced the Lotus 49 with the Ford Cosworth DFV engine: Jim Clark won on its very first outing, in the Netherlands, and took four wins over the season. But the new car still broke down often, and the title was fought out between the Brabham drivers.
Denny Hulme won the Monaco and German Grands Prix and, thanks to consistent finishes, became champion with 51 points; his boss and team-mate Jack Brabham was second with 46. Brabham won the Constructors’ Championship for the second year running.
