Biography
Cooper and the rear engine
Jack Brabham became World Champion in 1959 and 1960 with Cooper — the first titles won in a car with the engine behind the driver. In the final race of 1959, the United States Grand Prix at Sebring, his Cooper ran out of fuel, and Brabham pushed it to the finish to take fourth place. The title was still his, because neither Moss nor Brooks won that race.
Champion in his own car
In 1962 he first took the start in a car built by his own team, Brabham, and in 1966 he won his third title in one of its cars, becoming the only driver in history to win the World Championship in a car bearing his own name. Brabham raced until 1970, making 126 starts and taking 14 wins in his career. He died on 19 May 2014.
