Biography
The racing dentist
Tony Brooks trained as a dentist and raced while he was still studying. He shared his first win with Stirling Moss: at the 1957 British Grand Prix at Aintree, Moss took over his Vanwall and brought it home first. In 1958 Brooks won three races for Vanwall on his own — in Belgium, Germany and Italy.
Runner-up in 1959
In 1959, with Ferrari, Brooks won the French Grand Prix at Reims and the German Grand Prix at Berlin’s AVUS, and going into the final round at Sebring he could still become champion, but the title went to Jack Brabham. Brooks ended his career in 1961 with BRM.
