Biography
Champion in 1967
The New Zealander Denny Hulme became World Champion in 1967, driving for Jack Brabham’s team. Two wins — in Monaco and at the Nürburgring — and consistent finishes all season brought him the title; Brabham himself finished the championship second.
McLaren
From 1968 until the end of his career in 1974 Hulme drove for McLaren, the team of his fellow New Zealander Bruce McLaren. In 112 starts he took eight wins and 33 podiums. He died of a heart attack at the wheel on 4 October 1992, during the Bathurst 1000 race in Australia.
