Biography
Tyrrell and the six-wheeler
South African Jody Scheckter made his debut in 1972 with McLaren. He took his first win at the 1974 Swedish Grand Prix with Tyrrell, and in 1976 he won there again — in the six-wheeled Tyrrell P34.
Ferrari, 1979
After two seasons with the Wolf team, Scheckter moved to Ferrari and in 1979 became World Champion, winning three races. No Ferrari driver won the title again until 2000. Scheckter retired in 1980; in 112 starts he took 10 wins.
