Walter Wolf Racing
Canadian oil businessman Walter Wolf bought a majority stake in Frank Williams’s team in 1976, and in 1977 he entered his own car, the Wolf WR1. Jody Scheckter won its very first race — the 1977 Argentine Grand Prix — then Monaco and the Canadian Grand Prix, and finished the season as runner-up in the World Championship.
Frank Williams left and founded Williams Grand Prix Engineering — today’s Williams. Wolf itself never won again: in 1979 James Hunt drove seven races for it and retired mid-season, and Keke Rosberg took his place. After the season Wolf sold the team to Emerson Fittipaldi.
