Biography
Rain master
Jacky Ickx took his first win in the rain — at the 1968 French Grand Prix at Rouen, with Ferrari. He was runner-up in the World Championship two years running: in 1969 with Brabham and in 1970 with Ferrari, when he could not make up the points on the late Jochen Rindt.
Six wins at Le Mans
Ickx earned his greatest fame in endurance racing: he won the 24 Hours of Le Mans six times, and in 1983 he also won the Paris–Dakar Rally. In Formula 1 he raced until 1979 and took 8 wins.
