Biography
Victory at Monza
The Swiss driver Clay Regazzoni won the 1970 Italian Grand Prix at Monza for Ferrari — in only the fifth race of his career. In 1974 he fought for the title until the final round and lost out to Emerson Fittipaldi by three points.
The first Williams win
In 1979 Regazzoni gave Williams the first win in its history, at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. In 1980, by then driving for Ensign, he crashed at the United States Grand Prix West in Long Beach and was left unable to walk, but he kept on racing — in cars with hand controls.
