In 1994 active suspension and other electronic driver aids were banned. At the San Marino Grand Prix at Imola, Roland Ratzenberger was killed in qualifying and Ayrton Senna while leading the race. Michael Schumacher won six of the first seven races for Benetton.
Schumacher was disqualified from the British and Belgian Grands Prix and banned for two more races, and Damon Hill caught up with him in the Williams. In the final race, in Adelaide, the two collided, both retired, and Schumacher became champion by a single point — 92 to 91.
