Biography
A long road with McLaren
Mika Häkkinen made his debut in 1991 with Lotus and drove for McLaren from 1993, but he only took his first win in 1997 — at the European Grand Prix at Jerez.
Two titles
In 1998 Häkkinen became World Champion with McLaren after a battle with Michael Schumacher, and in 1999 he defended the title in a fight with Eddie Irvine. He retired after the 2001 season; in 161 starts he took 20 wins and 26 poles.
