Brawn won 8 races out of 17, and the world title went to Jenson Button.
In 2009 the rules changed a great deal: slick tyres returned, and KERS and new aerodynamics arrived. Brawn, born out of the departing Honda team, read them best: Jenson Button won six of the first seven races.
From the second half of the season Red Bull were the stronger team; over the year Sebastian Vettel won four races and Mark Webber two. Button held on to his lead and clinched the title at the Brazilian Grand Prix, while Brawn won the Constructors’ Championship in the only season the team ever existed.
