Toyota Racing
Toyota built its Formula 1 cars in Cologne, at the base where it had previously prepared its rally cars, and made its debut in 2002: in its very first race Mika Salo finished sixth and scored a point.
In eight seasons Toyota never won, although it started from pole three times and finished second five times. Its best year was 2005, with fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship. At the end of 2009, amid the global financial crisis, Toyota left Formula 1; Kamui Kobayashi made his debut for the team in its final races.
