Biography
Straight from the junior series
Kimi Räikkönen reached Formula 1 with hardly any experience of car racing: in 2001 Sauber put him in the car after about twenty races in the junior series. From 2002 to 2006 he drove for McLaren and was twice runner-up in the World Championship.
Ferrari, 2007
In 2007, in his very first season with Ferrari, Räikkönen became World Champion, beating Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso by a single point. He raced until 2021, including spells at Lotus, back at Ferrari and at Alfa Romeo; his 350 starts were a record when he retired.
