Alfa Romeo Racing
Alfa Romeo won the very first World Championship race, the British Grand Prix on 13 May 1950, where Nino Farina, Luigi Fagioli and Reg Parnell took the top three places. That season the team won all six championship races in Europe, and Farina became the first world champion; in 1951 Juan Manuel Fangio was champion in an Alfa Romeo. After that the factory left Formula 1.
The Alfa Romeo works team returned in 1979 and raced until 1985; there were no more wins, but Bruno Giacomelli and Andrea de Cesaris both started from pole. From 2019 to 2023 the Alfa Romeo name was carried by the Sauber team from Hinwil in Switzerland, whose drivers were Kimi Räikkönen, Antonio Giovinazzi, Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu.
