BMW Sauber F1 Team
In 2005 BMW bought Peter Sauber’s team and from 2006 ran it as its works team. At the 2007 United States Grand Prix Sebastian Vettel made his debut for BMW Sauber, standing in for the injured Robert Kubica — he finished eighth and became, at the time, the youngest driver to score points. That season BMW Sauber finished second in the Constructors’ Championship.
In 2008 Kubica took the team’s first pole in Bahrain and then won in Canada, a year after a heavy crash at the same circuit; Nick Heidfeld finished second. After 2009 BMW left Formula 1, and Peter Sauber bought the team back.
