British American Racing
British American Racing took the place of Tyrrell: it was founded by British American Tobacco and Craig Pollock, the manager of 1997 world champion Jacques Villeneuve, who moved to the new team. BAR finished its first season, 1999, without a single point.
In 2004, with Honda engines, BAR finished second in the Constructors’ Championship: Jenson Button reached the podium ten times and took his first pole at Imola, but never managed a win. In 2005 the team was banned for two races for a rules breach involving the fuel tank, and after that season Honda bought it outright.
