Circuit of the past · Bowmanville
Mosport, in the Canadian province of Ontario east of Toronto, hosted the Canadian Grand Prix from 1967 to 1977, alternating with Mont-Tremblant in the early years. Jack Brabham won the first race, in the rain, in a car of his own make, and Jackie Stewart won here twice — in 1971 and 1972.
At the 1973 Canadian Grand Prix a safety car came out on track for the first time in Formula 1 history — and it slotted in ahead of a car that was not leading, so it took several hours after the race to work out the result; Peter Revson was declared the winner. The last Grand Prix here, in 1977, was won by Jody Scheckter for Wolf, and since 1978 the Canadian Grand Prix has been held in Montreal.
