Circuit of the past · Dijon
The short, fast circuit near Dijon in Burgundy hosted the French Grand Prix between 1974 and 1984, alternating with Paul Ricard. In 1979 Jean-Pierre Jabouille gave Renault the first win for a turbocharged car here, while behind him Gilles Villeneuve and René Arnoux fought over second place in the closing laps, banging wheels again and again.
Alain Prost took his first win here in 1981. In 1982 Dijon hosted the Swiss Grand Prix — circuit racing had been banned in Switzerland itself after 1955 — and Keke Rosberg won it for the first victory of his career. The last Grand Prix here, in 1984, was won by Niki Lauda.
